WHITE SOX REAL TALK OFFSEASON PLAN

yankees27.jpg

So as the dust settles from the World Series & the Yankees celebrate their 27th title, the city of New York is goin crazy while one man is plotting. That one man is a guy who waits on NO ONE, that one man tasted World Series success in 2005 & is foaming at the mouth for another one, that one man likes to tell everyone not associated with him to “stay out of White Sox business” that one man is….Kenny Williams.
one man.jpg
It wasn’t even 24 hours since the World Series came to a close that he made some noise on the offseason front. Early yesterday morning news broke out that Kenny had traded Chris Getz & Josh Fields to KC for Mark Teahen. The next 24 hours there were a lot of questions & confusion as to whether or not the deal had got done, but it was confirmed just over an hour ago that Teahen is now on the Southside.
teahensox.jpg
This trade is a little confusing to me for a couple reasons, one is I don’t really see how this makes us “better” to me i think we are actually the same with or without Teahen, he’s a good hitter with a decent on base percentage but he strikes out a LOT. It also doesn’t make sense because of the fact that Kenny said we were gonna go back to playing “Ozzieball” but yet we trade of the players that can play that type of ball. I’m not gon question Kenny because he knows what he’s doing & with Kenny its never what it seems. One deal always leads to another one. So who knows where this is gon lead, Kenny says that Teahen will move back to his natural position at 3rd base & that Beckham will move to second. Another move that makes absolutely no sense to me, why move Bacon to 2nd when you can put Alexei back at 2nd & move Gordon to his natural position at shortstop. Either way it was a “decent” trade that I think will work IF other moves are mad. I wish Chris Getz all the best in KC & I hope he develops into the great player I think he can become & to Josh Fields I have two words for you……….KICK ROCKS, that is all.
BYE BYE JD!!!
byejd.jpg
Now on to the news of the day that I wished didn’t happen & that is the Sox buying out JD’s contract & making him a free agent. I knew this was gonna happen months ago but I was hoping that it wouldn’t. By buying JD out he has 2 options, either signing with another team or signing a new deal with the Sox that would be worth less money. The second option is likely not gonna happen, I understand that JD is getting older & had a horrible second half of the season but I still think there is a place for him here. He could go back in forth from DH & right field but i think Kenny is not gonna let that happen. I would like to thank JD for being a class act & for being one of the main reasons we won the World Series. He was & still is my favorite baseball player & I hope he makes Kenny regret this move wherever he goes(just not against us lol)
PODS FINAL FAREWELL????
podsbye.jpg
Well it looks like its that time to say our final goodbyes to Scotty Pods. Pods made his return to the Southside in May & had a great season & became a candidate for Comeback Player Of The Year. According to Kenny this morning all talks with Pods are basically dead. Pods wants too much money. I’m not upset bout this move because I believe this season was just a “Renaissance” year & nothing more, but I also wish Pods all the best.
The one move that was overshadowed was the re-signing of Mark Kotsay. I feel that was good move due to the fact that he his a great utility player.
FUTURE MOVES?????
As I look at the White Sox roster the main question marks are the outfield, DH & bullpen. Lets start with the outfield, who is gonna play CF & RF??? is Alex Rios gonna play CF or RF?? will they bring somebody in to play RF OR CF??? maybe Johnny Damon?
damon.jpg
Its looking like the Yankees more than likely won’t bring Damon back to the Bronx, this could be an opening for the Sox. Sure he’s getting up there a little bit in age but he made some CLUTCH plays in the whole postseason(especially the World Series), now has 2 world championships, can play the outfield well & he batted .282, 24 HR & 82 RBI this year. We all know the new Yankee Stadium is a launching pad but Da Cell is too, I think Kenny should seriously look at bringing him in.
Now the 3B position is solidified with the acquisition of Mark Teahen & pretty much kills the chances of Kenny goin after Chone Figgins. What about the DH position??? Kenny says that decision probably won’t be made til much later in the offseason, I personally think we should bring JD back for DH(get over it man, he’s not coming back) lol but it looks like Kenny might be leaning towards bringing back Big Jim(something that i am AGAINST) leave the Thome era in the past & move on. Also other people are saying that he’s leaning towards bringing this guy in:
matsuimvp.jpg
The newly crowned World Series MVP Hideki Matsui AKA Godzilla, he batted .274, 28 Homers & 90 RBI….IN A INJURY PLAGUED SEASON!!! and he was LIGHTS OUT in the postseason. I could see him being a valuable DH & smashing balls right out of Da Cell. I hope this is more than a rumor & Kenny is actually tryna get this done but only time will tell.
TO CLOSE OR NOT TO CLOSE???
soxbullpen.JPG
Now the Sox starting rotation for the first time in a LONG time is set already with Peavy, Buerhle, Floyd & Danks or the “Fantastic Four” as I like to call them. Also Sweaty Freddy will be a solid 5th guy but the real question marks come from the Sox bullpen. Who will be the Sox closer in 2010???? Jenks or Thornton??? to me its a no brainer, JENKS!. Sure his fastball aint 100 mph no more but 97 aint that damn bad either lol teams across the majors are desperate for a solid closer, only like 5 teams have a lights out guy& the Sox are one of them. I like Matt Thornton’s development but I think Bobby is still that dude & by keeping Matt as the setup guy it will no doubt make us stronger. It also will make Kenny’s job easier, if you get rid of Bobby, you gotta make Matt the closer & find a new setup guy & 7th inning guy. You trying to tell me that Scott Linesuck can be a setup man??? No way in hell. So message to Kenny: KEEP THE BIG BOY!
FINAL THOUGHTS:
johnnyd.jpg
My last message goes as follows: DANKS SIGN THEM DAMN PAPERS!!!!! Last year Johnny Danks turned down a $55 MILLION CONTRACT!!!! I need him to get good money before Spring Training so this isnt a distraction all season, we don’t nee that.
So things are moving quickly in Soxville only time will tell what other moves are made but I will stay on top of it right here at White Sox Real Talk…until next time…PEACE!!

SOX DROP OPENER TO M’S, RIOS TO SOUTHSIDE!!

aardsma.jpg

Wuz good world dis ya boi White Sox Real Talk checking in after a interesting day in Soxville. The day started off with Mr.Kenny Williams making yet ANOTHER big move by aquiring Toronto Blue Jays Outfielder Alex Rios.
alex.jpg
I can’t really say that this acquisition was a “shocker” because I have been reporting this story over the weekend with my past blogs. But the one shocking thing about this is that we got him & gave up NOTHING yea not a thing. These kind of waiver deals usually go down 2% of the time but that just shows the genius of Kenny Williams & what is even more impressive to me is that our owner Jerry Reinsdorf is co-signing all these moves that cost a lot of money. That shows me that he is a owner who really cares about winning. The only question mark about this move is how does he fit with this team this year? Well according to Ozzie its going to be a platoon situation for the whole outfield. This also has implications for next year like does this impact the Sox keeping JD, Big Jim or Scotty Pods????
kennywill.jpg
Now this is a very interesting scenario that Kenny Williams will have to address in the offseason. After what this man has done this season by acquiring not only Rios but Jake freaking Peavy lol these are in-season moves, these are moves that you usually see from a team like the Yankees in the offseason, So I’m not gon question what he has planned as far as JD, Pods, & Thome for next year. Now I personally hope that the Sox say goodbye to Jim Thome move JD to DH, and put Rios in RF, & keep Pods in center. Now don’t get me wrong I’m a huge Thome fan but if I have to say goodbye to him to keep my favorite baseball player Jermaine Dye in town I will do that. So with all this going on I almost forgot that there was a game to play.So the game finally got played at 9(I hate west coast time because it throws me off, they know I can’t go to sleep without finding out how my Sox did lol) So the start was so late that I had to stay up to watch. Gavin Floyd was on the mound & was doing well until the 4th when he put runners on 2nd & 3rd with 2 outs & then Ken Griffey Jr. hit a 2 RBI single to make it a 2-0 mariners lead.
jr.jpg
Sox came right back though in the top of the 5th as Ramon Castro hit a clutch 2 RBI double to tie the game at 2. But unfortunately  for us Gavin Floyd couldn’t continue his hot streak.
gavo.jpg
After the 4th he continued  to struggle as he let Ichiro give the Mariners the lead again at 3-2, Carlos Quentin bailed him out in the bottom of the 5th with a 2 RBI double that gave the Sox the 4-3 lead but Carlos buried his self & the team in the 6th as he gave up a 2 out homer to Russel Branyan that tied the game but then gave the game away as he gave up a 2-Run bomb to Kenji Johjima that gave the Mariners a 6-4 lead that would not relinquish.
kenji.jpg
Tigers lost which made it even more frustrating because we blew an opportunity to gain some ground in this division, But Johnny Danks will be on the bump tonight as we NEED him to go at least, at leasts 7 innings because this bullpen is coming in wayyy to early the last couple days and not putting us in a good situation. Danks will be going against Doug Fister who is making his 1st major league start, you know how the Sox play against first timers smh lol but until next time yall PEACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

KENNY “CLUTCH” WILLIAMS DELIVERS ONCE AGAIN!!!!

peavysox.jpg

Wuz good world dis ya boi White Sox Real Talk checkin in about to recap a GREAT day yesterday fo all of White Sox fans. Just when I doubted Kenny Williams….he pulled one of these joints lol
mikefinisher.jpg
He came up clutch like MJ  used to do here in the Windy City, with the damn Tigers & Twins acquiring Jarrod Washburn & Orlando Cabrera(respectively) he realed in his big fish Jake Peavy . I was on the way to work when I heard da news & i damn near got into a car accident learning about it LOL I was that excited. Now just like I expected all these national media guy, I don’t wanna name names but….Buster Olney from ESPN hating on this trade. Talkin about “this is a trade for the future, he’s prolly not gonna help this year”, “Can he succeed in the American League”, “Will he be the same after that injury”. I don’t wanna hear it!!!!!! Let me break down the reasons why it can help us this year.
REASONS WHY IT CAN HELP THIS YEAR……
1st off the White Sox have the best medical  staff in the majors…just look at how fast Jose Contreras came back
-Jake Peavy said he could’ve pitched in San Diego in August but they were gonna shut him down because they were out of the NL West race.
-We have 4 off days in August which means we only need our 5th starter 3 times in that month.
-He will be back for the most important month of the regular season, September &  thats when we play clutch sereis against NY, Boston on the road & the last two weeks of the season we play Detroit twice & Minnesota once AT HOME, and can you imagine the ground we can ground if we are down a couple games & if we are up a couple games with Peavy we can close the casket on them ******** lol
-And we all know that Detroit isn’t good enough to run away with it in august
-If we get in the playoffs we will have the best 4 man rotation in the American League PERIOD
Peavy,Buerhle,Danks,Floyd and anything  can happen.
Now sure we gave up 4 pitchers for him but let’s be real yea Clayton Richard was great his last two starts but the man is hot garbage lol I have been preaching that for the last year on this blog & sure I’m a lil down that we had to give up Aaron Poreda but if that’s what I gotta give up to get a former CY Young pitcher in HIS PRIME & 27 YEARS OLD FOR 3 MORE YEARS AFTER THIS….I’LL TAKE IT
GAME RECAP:
soxbeatyanks.jpg
The White Sox won 10-5 last night to make that day even better. We won off a bad appearance by the Yankee’s Sergio Mitre. D.J. Carrasco did pretty good giving us a chance to win. Clutch Homer by Carlos Quentin & a 2-out 2 RBI single by Chris Getz in the 7th sealed the win for us.
WHO WILL PITCH 5TH FOR THE 3 AUGUST STARTS????
carlostorres.jpg
Carlos Torres….that’s who I’m rollin wit. He did pretty damn good in his 1st major league outing going 6 innings only giving up 2 runs(which were homers) what was also good is that he didn’t break down when he gave up the homers. I think he would be able to give us some quality starts til Peavy comes.
WHEN I THINK PEAVY WILL MAKE HIS 1ST START…..
Now I think he will make his 1st start September 3rd, Wrigley Field in the makeup game agianst the Cubbies lol wouldn’t that make for a great drama???? The rivalry is already a heated one but to have Peavy have his 1st start against the team that REALLY wanted him lol WHO’S MAD NOW CUBBIES??? LOL UNTIL NEXT TIME YALL PEACE!!!!!

BRIAN ANDERSON TRADED TO BOSTON FOR MARK KOTSAY!

brianbye.jpg

Wuz good world dis ya boi White Sox Real  Talk checkin in with a Trade Update, according to espnchicago.com the Sox have traded Brian Anderson to the Boston Red Sox for Mark Kotsay.
kotsay.jpg
I personally think this was just a courtesy trade lol cuz i really don’t see how Kotsay helps this ballclub. He is WAYYYYYYYY past his prime but who knows sometimes the smallest trades make the biggest impacts(i.e. Geoff Blum) but the most important question is Kenny done?
kennydub.jpg
or is this just the appetizer for the big fish he is realing in on Friday???? we will only wait to find out until later PEACE!!!!!!!!!

CAREER NIGHT FOR PAULIE, TRADE RUMORS BREWING???

paulie3.jpg

Wuz good world dis ya boi White Sox Real Talk checking in after a pretty entertaining HR derby at Da Cell last night. The game started off with Mark Buerhle on the mound trying to win his 9th game of the season. Grady Sizemore kicked it off early with his 1st of 2 homers of the night for a 1-0 Indians lead. In the 2nd Paulie hit his 1st HR of 3 to tie it at 1. Buerhle struggled a lil bit to give up 2 more runs and a 3-1 lead. Then the Sox offense woke up after 2 singles by Alexei & JD then a walk sent Jim Thome to 1st to load the bases for Paulie.
grandsalami.jpg
Thats when Paulie struck…AGAIN to hit a grand slam to left field to give the White Sox a 5-3 lead and his 2nd homer of the evening. Then the aerial show continued in the 7th inning when Alexei Ramirez continued his hot streak by hitting a 2-run homer his 11th of the season to make it a 7-3 lead.
alexeiss.jpg
Then Paulie struck….AGAIN in the seventh as he hit home run number 3 of the night!!! to make it a 10-3 lead and basically sealed the game for the Southsiders.
paulie2.jpg
So the Sox went on to win 10-6 and start off this quick homestand on the right foot.
TRADE RUMORS:
halladay.jpg
Now once again there is another rumor about an Ace joining the Sox pitching rotation. Now some reports are saying that Kenny is trying to bring Roy Halladay to the Southside. Now with all that being said I don’t believe it, first off Halladay has a no-trade clause & you know that Toronto is goin to want alot including this man:
becks1.jpg
Now I really like Halladay and all that good stuff but I’m not trading Bacon for a 32 year old pitcher…just aint happening. Especially the way he has been swinging the bat he is gonna be a stud real soon. Now there are also reports that their will NOT be any big name trades for the Sox due to the economy & the slumping attendance at Sox games. According to Kenny Williams that would be the reason why no deals get made, but we will see. Until next time yall…PEACE!!!!!!!!!!!!

GOOD TIMES ARE A ROLLIN’!!!!

sox4th.jpg

Wuz good world dis ya boi White Sox Real Talk checkin back in as the White Sox extend their winning streak to 7 games and looking like they are prime & ready to properly defend their AL Central Title now. White Sox came into this game trying to crack the code named Zack Grienke who was 10-3 with an ERA around 2 and has simply dominated the Sox this season.
greinke.jpg
The Sox hopped on Greinke early as A.J. lead off the 2nd inning with his 9th homer of the season to make it an early 1-0 lead. Now usually this is where Grienke gets his mojo back and shuts us up for the rest of the game….but not this time. White Sox then scored on a error by Royals 2nd baseman Alberto Callaspo to make it 2-0. The Sox then played small ball the rest of the game to take a 5-0 winfutureace.jpg.
what can I say about Johnny Danks??? cuz it really looks like he’s getting back to his dominating self goin 7 1/3 innings giving up only 5 hits and ZERO runs to push his record back above .500 at 7-6 on the ’09 campaign.
OTHER NOTES:
quentin.jpg
Carlos Quentin was sent to triple a charlotte to begin his rehab assignment off the DL. The Sox don’t have a timetable for his return but it is rumored that he will be back after all -star break.
IN KENNY WE TRUST:
kennydub.jpg
Now that the Sox have won 7 in a row and if the Tigers lose tonight will be 1.5 games behind first place it looks like Kenny will be a buyer instead of a seller at the upcoming trade deadline. I know we need at least one more solid starter in the rotation so we can have a formibadle 4 man rotation. After Buerhle, Danks & Floyd you have Clayton Richard who is always shaky & even though Jose has been great of late he tends to be inconsitent and might make a major dip after the break. So i think bringing in a solid #4 guy would defitnley make things better. I don’t know who’s available but I know Kenny will be looking. Gavin Floyd will be on the bump for us in a afternoon game so hopefully we can extend that streak to 8. Unitl next time yall…PEACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SLOWLY SINKING….

ozzie1.jpg

Wuz good world dis ya boi White Sox Real Talk checkin back in after a horrible offensive performance by the Sox last night. What can i say about this team hmmm…….i got it, this years White Sox are kinda like when you’re on a plane that has a lot of turbulence and then the ride is smooth for about 5 minutes and then a huge dip occurs again.Just when you think that the Sox are gonna start rollin they put up a 4 hit, 2 run performance like they did last night. I blame this loss SOLELY on the White Sox weak offense because once again we blow another good performance from a Sox pitcher with bad no let me re-phrase that, horrendous offense.
jd50.jpg
Besides the rough two innings where he was pitching slower than usual John Danks was solid, he shut the Dodgers offense for 5 more innings. The main problem for us was this guy:
kuroda.jpg
Hiroki Kuroda, we made this guy look like a Hall of Famer. He almost CG us until JD hit an RBI single in the 9th to make it a 3 run ball game. Now while I was watching this horrible excuse for a baseball game I was also for the 1st time in my 20 years of life checking in on the Cubs game ONLY BECAUSE THEY WERE PLAYING THE TIGERS DON’T GET IT TWISTED LOL I wanted the Cubs to win for the first time in my life because the Tigers are leading our division then I almost forgot who I was watching as the Cubs used their God-given ability to LOSE off the bat of Ryan Rayburn as Kevin Gregg(which will bring me to another point later( gave up a win on the walkoff as he blew another save.
typical.jpg
Now with the Sox down 6 games in the division the real question is with the trade deadline approaching in like 5 weeks will Kenny Williams be a buyer or seller???? Now im not completely jumping off the boat yet because a 6 game lead is no where near insurmountable and also besides Justin Verlander that Tigers pitching staff & bullpen doesn’t invoke fear into me. Now with the 2nd half approaching soon you gotta be aware of the Piranhas.
mmboys.jpg
Right now they are just doing what they usually do, they stay afloat only being 4 games behind the Tigers and as soon as the 2nd half begins they do a transformation and become the deadly Pirannhas. Thats why the Sox need to get a run going because this will be a 3 headed race real soon and with nuthing but games at the dreaded Metrodome left against the Twins its gonna get real hard. So if I’m Kenny I would still be a buyer instead of a seller because if we can get one more solid starter I believe things will get REAL interesting with a 3 team battle between Tigers, Sox & of course the deadly Pirannhas for that AL Central title. Until next time yall…PEACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

VINTAGE JOSE

joseraw.jpg

Has Jose Contreras got his mojo back?? that is the question of the evening…Wuz good world dis ya boi White Sox Real Talk checkin in after another White Sox victory. Last night the Sox gave up a 2-0 lead in the 7th and gave up 7 straight runs to lose 7-2 & drop to 6.5 games under Tigers. That almost tempted me to write a breakup da squad blog but I held back lol. Today the Sox hopped on the Brew Crew early when they scored 6 runs in the 2nd inning off Manny Parra. It started when Gordon Beckham hit his first RBI’s of his career when he ripped off a double that scored 2 runs, then Jayson Nix scored two to make it 4-0. Paulie showed no signs of a injury when he scored 2 on a double to make it 6-0.Then Ramon Castro hit his 1st HR of the season to make it a 7-0 lead. Jose Contreras continued his hot streak since being called up going 7 innnings with giving no runs and struck out 8, in fact the Brewers only threatned once when they had bases loaded with 2 outs but after a very brief convo with Ozzie Jose got out the jam with a popup to 1st. So Sox win & Tigers also lost so that cut the deficit to just 5.5 games. I enjoyed the win but we seriously need to get a streak going again if we don’t want Kenny to breakup the team and let the youth movement OFFICIALLY begin.
kenny.jpg
Cuz believe me he will because he doesnt care about the media, perception, or feelings all he cares about is this:
soxring.jpg
Putting another WS ring on his & his players fingers, thats ALL he cares about. If that does happen & the Sox can’t get their act together than there are a few people who Kenny might get rid of. Those guys are Paulie, JD, Big Jim & I’ve even heard Bobby Jenks(if they trade Bobby by the way, there isnt a word in the dictionary to describe how pissed i would be.) So we will see what the record is looking like by All-Star break will we be in contention or will it be time for the crew that brought the Southside title #3 in 2005 time to breakup??? only the Sox players can decide that…until next time yall PEACE!!!

HOT STOVE REPORT:MOVES IN SOXVILLE;WINTER MEETINGS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER

Whats good world this is ya boy White Sox Real Talk checking back in wit ya, the sox season has only been over a couple months and boy has Mr.Kenny Williams already changed the look of the 2008 AL Central Divison Champs. In his attempt to bring more youth and speed to the southside, Mr.Williams’ first offseason move was of course not re-signing one Ken Griffey Jr.

This was a move that I saw coming from the begining of the offseason, I even said it was gon happen in my Season wrapup blog(If you haven’t already read it go check it out,It’s a great read LMAO) Mr.Williams(I CALL HIM THAT CUZ HE’S NICE LOL) then traded away a southside favorite Dirty 30 Nick Swisher to the Bronx

Even Though Nick batted a horrible .219 with 24 HRs and 69 RBI’s I was kinda dissapointed to see him go, because of his upbeat attitude and was always a site to see at sox home games. In return the Sox got back

Wilson Betemit(The Guy on top),Jeff Marquez and Jhonny Nunez from the Bombers. And If you thought Kenny was done trading for a lil bit….YOU’RE DEAD WRONG LOL as Kenny traded Javier Vasquez to ATL in a 6-player deal(I GUESS KENNY READ MY SEASON WRAP-UP BLOG CUZ HE’S DOIN EVERYTHING I SAID TO DO LOL)

We got back prospects Catcher Tyler Flowers, Infielder Brent Lillibridge, 3B John Gilmore and Left handed pitcher Santos Rodriguez, Kenny says that all of these players have great talent even went as far as to say that John Gilmore is “the next Joe Crede” and calling Tyler Flowers “the next great all-star in the american league” I’m not gonna question him cuz he has a great eye for talent(Carlos Quentin,Alexei Ramirez).

TRADE RUMORS:

Rumor has it that Kenny is also trying to shop former World Series MVP Jermaine Dye and our closer Bobby Jenks….

Now I hope these rumors are just rumors cuz i would HATE to see them go, now the Jermaine Dye trade would make more sense than trading Bobby Jenks because JD is 34 yrs. old and maybe on the downslide of his career real soon but trading Bobby Jenks MAKES ABSOULTELY NO SENSE PERIOD!!!! He has been nothing short of BRILLIANT sense making his Sox debut in ’05 he has had 3 straight seasons of at least 30 saves so that makes no sense. Kenny did say that he wouldn’t trade either player unless he could find equal value.

Rumor also has it that the Sox are interested in aquiring Marlins 3B Jorge Cantu who batted .277 with a career high 29 HRs and a team high 95 RBI’s last season

I HOPE THIS RUMOR IS TRUE….

Finally The Sox have filed Arbirarion for Orlando Cabrera and are waiting for a reply, well the winter meetings start next week and Kenny plans on going their listening instead of going their talking ****(like when he said the Tigers trade last year gave the Tigers a better chance to compete wit da Sox lol) I’ll be back wit new blogs if any big news comes out of the Winter Meetings so until next time I’m WHITE SOX REAL TALK…..PEACE!!!!
