WHITE SOX REAL TALK OFFSEASON PLAN

yankees27.jpg

So as the dust settles from the World Series & the Yankees celebrate their 27th title, the city of New York is goin crazy while one man is plotting. That one man is a guy who waits on NO ONE, that one man tasted World Series success in 2005 & is foaming at the mouth for another one, that one man likes to tell everyone not associated with him to “stay out of White Sox business” that one man is….Kenny Williams.
one man.jpg
It wasn’t even 24 hours since the World Series came to a close that he made some noise on the offseason front. Early yesterday morning news broke out that Kenny had traded Chris Getz & Josh Fields to KC for Mark Teahen. The next 24 hours there were a lot of questions & confusion as to whether or not the deal had got done, but it was confirmed just over an hour ago that Teahen is now on the Southside.
teahensox.jpg
This trade is a little confusing to me for a couple reasons, one is I don’t really see how this makes us “better” to me i think we are actually the same with or without Teahen, he’s a good hitter with a decent on base percentage but he strikes out a LOT. It also doesn’t make sense because of the fact that Kenny said we were gonna go back to playing “Ozzieball” but yet we trade of the players that can play that type of ball. I’m not gon question Kenny because he knows what he’s doing & with Kenny its never what it seems. One deal always leads to another one. So who knows where this is gon lead, Kenny says that Teahen will move back to his natural position at 3rd base & that Beckham will move to second. Another move that makes absolutely no sense to me, why move Bacon to 2nd when you can put Alexei back at 2nd & move Gordon to his natural position at shortstop. Either way it was a “decent” trade that I think will work IF other moves are mad. I wish Chris Getz all the best in KC & I hope he develops into the great player I think he can become & to Josh Fields I have two words for you……….KICK ROCKS, that is all.
BYE BYE JD!!!
byejd.jpg
Now on to the news of the day that I wished didn’t happen & that is the Sox buying out JD’s contract & making him a free agent. I knew this was gonna happen months ago but I was hoping that it wouldn’t. By buying JD out he has 2 options, either signing with another team or signing a new deal with the Sox that would be worth less money. The second option is likely not gonna happen, I understand that JD is getting older & had a horrible second half of the season but I still think there is a place for him here. He could go back in forth from DH & right field but i think Kenny is not gonna let that happen. I would like to thank JD for being a class act & for being one of the main reasons we won the World Series. He was & still is my favorite baseball player & I hope he makes Kenny regret this move wherever he goes(just not against us lol)
PODS FINAL FAREWELL????
podsbye.jpg
Well it looks like its that time to say our final goodbyes to Scotty Pods. Pods made his return to the Southside in May & had a great season & became a candidate for Comeback Player Of The Year. According to Kenny this morning all talks with Pods are basically dead. Pods wants too much money. I’m not upset bout this move because I believe this season was just a “Renaissance” year & nothing more, but I also wish Pods all the best.
The one move that was overshadowed was the re-signing of Mark Kotsay. I feel that was good move due to the fact that he his a great utility player.
FUTURE MOVES?????
As I look at the White Sox roster the main question marks are the outfield, DH & bullpen. Lets start with the outfield, who is gonna play CF & RF??? is Alex Rios gonna play CF or RF?? will they bring somebody in to play RF OR CF??? maybe Johnny Damon?
damon.jpg
Its looking like the Yankees more than likely won’t bring Damon back to the Bronx, this could be an opening for the Sox. Sure he’s getting up there a little bit in age but he made some CLUTCH plays in the whole postseason(especially the World Series), now has 2 world championships, can play the outfield well & he batted .282, 24 HR & 82 RBI this year. We all know the new Yankee Stadium is a launching pad but Da Cell is too, I think Kenny should seriously look at bringing him in.
Now the 3B position is solidified with the acquisition of Mark Teahen & pretty much kills the chances of Kenny goin after Chone Figgins. What about the DH position??? Kenny says that decision probably won’t be made til much later in the offseason, I personally think we should bring JD back for DH(get over it man, he’s not coming back) lol but it looks like Kenny might be leaning towards bringing back Big Jim(something that i am AGAINST) leave the Thome era in the past & move on. Also other people are saying that he’s leaning towards bringing this guy in:
matsuimvp.jpg
The newly crowned World Series MVP Hideki Matsui AKA Godzilla, he batted .274, 28 Homers & 90 RBI….IN A INJURY PLAGUED SEASON!!! and he was LIGHTS OUT in the postseason. I could see him being a valuable DH & smashing balls right out of Da Cell. I hope this is more than a rumor & Kenny is actually tryna get this done but only time will tell.
TO CLOSE OR NOT TO CLOSE???
soxbullpen.JPG
Now the Sox starting rotation for the first time in a LONG time is set already with Peavy, Buerhle, Floyd & Danks or the “Fantastic Four” as I like to call them. Also Sweaty Freddy will be a solid 5th guy but the real question marks come from the Sox bullpen. Who will be the Sox closer in 2010???? Jenks or Thornton??? to me its a no brainer, JENKS!. Sure his fastball aint 100 mph no more but 97 aint that damn bad either lol teams across the majors are desperate for a solid closer, only like 5 teams have a lights out guy& the Sox are one of them. I like Matt Thornton’s development but I think Bobby is still that dude & by keeping Matt as the setup guy it will no doubt make us stronger. It also will make Kenny’s job easier, if you get rid of Bobby, you gotta make Matt the closer & find a new setup guy & 7th inning guy. You trying to tell me that Scott Linesuck can be a setup man??? No way in hell. So message to Kenny: KEEP THE BIG BOY!
FINAL THOUGHTS:
johnnyd.jpg
My last message goes as follows: DANKS SIGN THEM DAMN PAPERS!!!!! Last year Johnny Danks turned down a $55 MILLION CONTRACT!!!! I need him to get good money before Spring Training so this isnt a distraction all season, we don’t nee that.
So things are moving quickly in Soxville only time will tell what other moves are made but I will stay on top of it right here at White Sox Real Talk…until next time…PEACE!!

JOHN DANKS ROLLED BY ANGELS, SOX/TRIBE PREVIEW!!

danksrolled.jpg

Wuz good world dis ya boi White Sox Real Talk checking in with a recap on this last series & to preview the upcoming series with the Indians. Ok coming into this afternoon’s game the Sox were looking to sweep the top team in the AL for the 2nd week in a row, BUT as usual they don’t. John Danks was shaky from the start giving up 6 runs in 6 innings, walking damn near everybody & also letting the Angels steal 4 bases off him. With all that being said the Sox still scored 5 runs & if it wasnt for Danks bad start might have won the game.
BONEHEAD PLAYS:
beckham.jpg
Today I was reminded that Gordon Beckham is still a rookie lol making a horrible throw to Paulie in the 1st that could have gotten them out of that inning with no runs scored & probably changing the flow of the game but he gave up 2 runs on that error. Then in the 2nd inning JD had a “Milton Bradley Moment” when he forgot how many outs there were which lead to a run score off a Sac Fly that wasn’t supposed to happen. Now to look on the bright side in the 7 games that the Sox have played against the two teams that were supposed “destroy us” they took 5 of those games and looked real solid. Now other bad news was that Tigers won 7-3 against the O’s & gain some ground by extending their division lead by 2 games. If you can’t tell already this is definitely gonna be a battle to the finish as it keeps goin up & down but I am waiting for the Sox to string off like 5 in a row to take the division lead & they have a GREAT chance to do that this weekend.
SOX/TRIBE PREVIEW:
tribewood.jpg
Now the Sox get ready to take on the Cleveland Indians this weekend in what I like to call a “Trap Series” the reason I call it that is because this is a series that we are supposed to not just win but sweep & the Indians have absolutely nothing to lose & are goin to try ruin our chance of taking the division lead. This is a real key series because we get a chance to bury one of the AL Central bottom feeders while the two teams we are battling with, Detroit & Minnesota beat each other to a pulp at Comerica Park this weekend. If you are the Sox do not take this team lightly because they just beat the Tigers & Twins in series but those were at their ballpark. Take advantage of your homefield and sweep this team before goin to the West Coast to play a good Mariners team & Oakland, a place that has been like the Metrodome pt.2. But let’s check out the pitching match ups this weekend.
FRIDAY:
Mark Buerhle(11-5 3.79 ERA)
VS.
Jeremy Sowers(3-7 4.97 ERA)
let’s see if Mr.Perfect can get back on track after a horrible outing last sunday against the Yankees & also his meltdown against the Twins two weeks ago.
SATURDAY:
TBA
VS.
Carl Pavano(9-8 5.37 ERA)
This will be the 2nd 5th starter spot of the month & its looking like it will be Carlos Torres starting.
SUNDAY:
Jose Contreras(4-10 4.95 ERA)
VS.
David Huff(5-6 6.81 ERA)
This is probably gonna be Jose’s last chance if he doesn’t wanna get kicked out of the rotation, he hasn’t had any problems giving up runs but has walked almost everyone he’s faced.
PEAVY UPDATE:
chipeavy.jpg
I now have some real good news to report on the Jake Peavy front, according to espnchicago.com Jake Peavy will throw a side session for Don Cooper on Saturday & if everything goes as well as planned then he will begin his rehab stints in the minors with probable starts on Aug.13th, 18th & 23rd and if everything goes well he will make his 1st start with the White Sox in Yankee Stadium on August 28th.
OTHER NOTES:
Alexei Ramirez should be back in the lineup tomorrow night
until next time yall PEACE!!!!!

WHITE SOX/YANKEES SERIES RECAP, SOX/HALOS PREVIEW!

sox3.jpg

Wuz good world dis ya boi White Sox Real Talk checkin in after a VERY successful & surpising series against the New York Yankees. Now even though Mark Buerhle really struggled today & gave up 6 runs in 5 innings pitched, I’m not that upset mainly because how great Mark has been his last couple starts & also because we took 3 outta 4 in this series. Much more than what I could’ve asked for especially the way we had been playing coming into this series & how hot the Yankees have been lately. Also Detroit got destroyed by Cleveland 11-1 which even more supports my theory that the Tigers are not that good of a team. So we are still only 1.5 games out of 1st and with Alexei injured, & Peavy on the DL I love our chances to still win this divison.
BACON FOR ROY!!!
baconroy.jpg
I mean man this kid is UNBELIEVABLE now if you all go back & read my Spring Training reports in march I said he was gonna be special but MAN this kid has the potential to not only be an All-Star but a SUPERSTAR. Now my reasoning for that is this.. he’s only been in the majors not even a full 2 months and is batting .311 with 5 homers & 36 RBI’s also the kid is a natural shortstop but is looking pretty damn impressive at third base. This guy has become a serious Rookie of the Year candiate his only threat would be Pittsburgh’s Andrew McClutchen.
SOX/ANGELS PREVIEW:
angels.jpg
Now my confidence for this series has gotten better considering how well we just played in this past series. Here’s a look at the pitching matchups:
TUESDAY:
John Lackey(7-4 4.00 ERA)
VS.
Jose Contreras(4-10 4.80 ERA)

WENSEDAY:
Sean O’Sullivan(3-0 3.75 ERA)
VS.
Gavin Floyd(8-6 4.07 ERA)

THURSDAY:
Ervin Santana(3-6 7.31 ERA)
VS.
John Danks(9-7 4.00 ERA)
Now after this series the road gets a lil less rocky for my Sox as we have a 15 game stretch against teams we should beat & some potential sweeps like Cleveland, & KC before we head to Boston & The Bronx to play the beasts of the AL East which brings me to my next topic.
chipeavy.jpg
New Sox pitcher Jake Peavy was introduced to the media yesterday before the Sox 14-4 rout of the Yankees & today he threw off the mound for the 1st time since the beginning of June and threw 50 pitches a look a lil good. He is still scheduled to return either in the Boston series at the end of the month or the makeup game against the Cubs on Sept.3rd but until next time yall PEACE!!!!!!!!!!!

CLUTCH WISE!!!

dwisehero.jpg

Wuz good world dis ya boi White Sox Real Talk checking it after a GREAT game last night at the cell. It was even better for me because I was there before I start i think that all Sox fans will agree with me when i say that D-Wise should play EVERY thursday from now on lol Last week it was the Perfect Game saving catch & now this week scoring the game-winning RBI against the Bombers. Now when the park opened it was a brief 40 minute rain delay and this pic below describes my feeling at that time lol
rain.jpg
But after the rain went away it was time to PLAY BALL!!!!
playball.jpg
Obviously from the pic i took i was very excited lol but anyway the White Sox got on the board in the 4th inning when Bacon struck again with a RBI double that gave us the 1-0 lead. Gavin Floyd kept the the Yankees off the board until the 6th when Johnny Damon had an RBI double to tie it at 1-1. Then in the 7th the most hated player in the major’s A.J. Pierzynksi struck again when he bumped into Robinson Cano on purpose to avoid the double play & Jim Thome scored the go ahead run to 2-1 Sox.
ajannoying.jpg
So in the 8th inning after Gavin Floyd came out after giving up a base hit(he was REMARKABLE by the way) Matt Thornton came in and got the final out in that inning after giving up a base hit. So the 9th inning comes in Thornton strikes out the first two batters he see’s then an old White Sox came in to strike us……….
swish.jpg
Nick Swisher just blasted a ball into center field to tie the game at 2. So in the bottom of the inning after 2 base hits with 2 outs on a 2-2 count Dewayne Wise struck again with his game winning RBI single that scored Scotty Pods to give us a 3-2 win.
wisehit.jpg
This was a HUGE win after goin 1-6 on our 7 game roadie, you could tell it was a big win because when we were leaving Da Cell everyone was chanting “Yankees Suck” like we just won the World Series lol I also was reminded how big of a fanbase the Yankees have because there was just as many Yankee fans as there were Sox fans. It kinda got me a lil upset seeing all those damn Jeter jersesys but i got over it almost wanted to beat the crap outta some Yankee fan sitting next to me but i didnt LOL
OTHER NOTES:
Bobby Jenks missed yesterday’s game due to Kidney Stones & should be back today(hope he gets well those are not good)
-Alexei Ramirez’s injury wasn’t as bad as it looked(thank God) and should be back in the lineup either saturday or sunday.
I’ma leave yall with some pics from my trip to da cell..PEACE!!!

STARING DEATH IN THE FACE…….

deathinface.jpg

Wuz good world dis ya boi White Sox Real Talk checkin in with a VERY, VERY dissapointing sweep at the hands of the Twins. Now I know that pic above is old but it really explains the feelings of the Sox & their fans right now. Things are as bad as they’ve been all season on the southside, we came into this game looking to avoid the sweep against the Twins rookie pitcher Brian Dueseng, he went 5 innings& gave up only 2 runs….INEXCUSEABLE!!! YOU CAN’T JUST SCORE 2 RUNS AGAINST A ROOKIE PITCHER……HAMMER THAT CLOWN!!! but NOOOOOO we make him look like an ace as he only really gave up 2 bad pitches, a homer to Nix & Carlos Quentin. Then guess what happened folks…yea thats right an error leads to a RBI single by Alexei Casilla!!!! yes the Twins player that is batting .171 on the year!!!!! and we making him look like a baseball god as he scored two of their 3 runs!!!!!
casilla.jpg
So the ninth rolls around and Nathan comes out…the Sox made it interesting with runners on 2nd & 3rd with 2 outs but same bat time, same bat channel as new White Sox Mark Kotsay lines out hard to Michael Cuddyer, in any other park that is a 2 RBI single but not in the Death Dome.
FROM BAD TO WORSE……..
a-ramirez-for-blog.jpg
And to add salt to the already open wound Alexei Ramirez got carried off the field as he injured his ankle in the 7th inning and according to Sox beat writer Mark Gonzales Alexei was on crutches in the locker room but Ozzie said in his post game press conference that it shouldnt be as bad as it looks, I don’t know if that is true or he’s just trying to save face. Bartolo Colon is also back on the DL with some type of injury to his fat elbow!! i don’t even care anymore & also Carlos was limping after he hit his homer tonight and looks beaten down.
TURNING POINT…..
thebombers.jpg
Now we are at the dreaded turning point in the season, after going 1-6 on their 7 game roadie they now go back home to Da Cell to face the hottest team in the AL the New York Yankees yea thats right Derek Jeter, A-Roid & Crew are coming to hunt us.There is only one good thing about this series is that its at home. I will be a game 1 but i am not looking foward to what I might see lol What makes this even worse is that Detroit will be playing the Cliff Lee-less Cleveland Indians(Lee got traded to the world champ Phillies earlier today) We gotta take at least 3 outta 4 to stay alive because if we don’t that might be the nail in the coffin. Other news in Soxville is that Josh Fields was sent down to Triple A. Until next time…Peace I’m goin to find some Alchol right now lol
